Weak In The Knees: Warpaint

Image via: Here
Warpaint was actually featured on my very first Weak In The Knees post almost a year ago and since that time this band has continued to cast a spell over me.  Their music is a breath of fresh air amidst the status quo sounds that bombard the air waves nowadays.  I really can't pinpoint Warpaint's musical genre except to say it leans towards psychedelic indie rock, but really its more than that.  This all female band weaves together stirring yet soothing sounds that manage to be both dark and airy. There is a great power behind these shadowy tunes that seem to come together so effortlessly. Their latest record "The Fool" has the ability to transport its listener to another word that can only be exited once the album has ended.  Once the music stops its as if you have awoken from a dream.  You aren't really sure where you are or what just happened, but you know you want more.

In breaking blogger news, I did a little interview over at The Citybirds Nest which you should go and read now if you need a good giggle and who doesn't need a good giggle, am I right?

Hugs,

Amber Blue Bird

  1. a few things:

    1) this is now my favorite new band. thank you.
    2) i liked them immediately because of their glorious headwear.
    3) you are fabulous. your interview was awesome, chiefly because you found a way to incorporate the too-often unused slang word, "sike" and because you named your broom.

    have a beautiful weekend!

  5. My knees are jello, Amber Blue Bird! J-E-L-L-O! As it turns out I was already familiar with Warpaint and I love their sound. I realize you're going to suspect that this old rat is just sucking up to you but I really do dig the music that you recommend here. I've got an answer song for you. Listen to this band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7eenrwevDE
My blog follower Kelly-marie in London turned me on to this and other bands that I think you would appreciate. You and she might benefit from hooking up. If you have time check out her blog A Harem of Peacocks http://haremofpeacocks.blogspot.com/2011/05/tag-youre-it.html and you'll see that it was Kelly-marie who turned me on to Warpaint last month. Her boyfriend is also in a band that produces this kind of dream pop and she runs with a dynamic crowd of young artists and musicians in London.

I read your interview, marveled once again at your ready wit, and left a comment. You're never going to believe this but the word verification that I was given to submit my comment was "ducker." Absolutely true! (LOL) Congratulations on being recognized for your excellent blog, dear Amber!
