Weak In The Knees: Soley

 Image Via: Here
If you are a child of the 90s then you are probably getting a very strong Lisa Loeb vibe from today's artist Soley. While she may resemble Loeb down to the signature specs, Soley creates music more reminiscent of romantic horror films rather than sing along pop jams. This Icelandic singer-songwriter produces hazy lo-fi tunes complete with introspective poetry like lyrics delivered via a sugary sweet voice, but don't let that voice fool you.  This lady is in to some demented sh*t.  In her song "Smashed Birds" she speak-sings "I took all of your birds and I smashed them in my pocket-Oh and then I got the feathers off and I made myself a beautiful dress."  Well that's one way to deal with your feelings.  Soley isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but for those few Tim Burton creepers, I think you've met your match.

Hugs,

Amber

  1. Yessum, I'm a child of the 90s, Amber Girly Bird. I had a mental age of two back then. Still do, and damn proud of it! Soley looks like a mean business woman. (Just my type.) These Soley songs would be perfect in the soundtrack of the new teen slice and dice movie thriller Prom Night 43: Carrie's Ultimate, Final and Fatal Revenge starring Lindsay Lohan. Stripped of their demented lyrics these songs would pass as innocent lullabies for children. "Pretty Face" is glorious and laced with danger! I'm suppose I'm down with "Smashed Birds" as long as no Amber Blue Birds were harmed in the making of it. I loved all these tracks. Soley is my cup of tea, Amber Girly Bird, and so, by the way, are you. Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend!
