Color Me Happy

I've come to the conclusion that my own sense of responsibility tends to wreck havoc on my daily activities as I  usually opt for completing everyday chores rather than spontaneous fun adventures.  This weekend I tried my darnedest to suppress my inner drill sergeant and persuade the little carefree kid in me to come out to play.  I didn't go buck wild, but I did venture out of my comfort zone, hitting up a delicious Mexican bakery (in the "scary" part of town) where a combination of middle school Spanish and vigorous pointing resulted in finally acquiring dos donas and uno dulce de leche that were eaten on the banks of the Connecticut river.  After digesting all that yumminess (and releasing endless giggles over my poor excuse for Spanish) Kevin and I decided that an inflatable pool was in order so we moseyed on over to our local Ocean State Job Lot (the classiest of the classy cheap shi*t shops), purchased a vibrant kiddie pool, and spent the rest of the weekend getting pruney in our plastic bathtub.  I still wasn't able to completely forgo my chores (I actually had a very Monica moment Sunday afternoon that resulted in a rapid cleaning session), but I had a lot of fun and that's really what its all about.

  1. No better way to start my day than with Amber Girly Bird straight up and on the rocks! (Attn. new followers: see pics to understand joke.) Hell, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right dearie?

Anyway... you took a walk on the wild side this weekend and returned home with your feathers intact, a belly full of Mexican sweets and a kiddie pool to boot. I didn't take Spanish in high school and therefore needed the online Spanish to English translation tool to find out what "dos donas and uno dulce de leche" means. I was shocked to learn that you roamed the poor side of town in search of "two donkeys and an old lecher." (That's before I realized I was mistakenly using the Swahili to English translation tool.) I was relieved to find that you instead consumed "two donuts and a caramel"... or is it "camel"? That's all I got. Have a terrific week, dear Amber!

  17. Sounds like a great weekend of exploring other parts of town, getting a pool (no pics?) and just letting go of the usual weekend chores that makes us forget that its in fact the weekend.
