What The Fiznart

Because I have no shame, I am perfectly fine with admitting that my latest television series addiction revolves around a family of rednecks and their tiara loving pageant queen daughter.  Yes, I'm talking about Honey Boo Boo Child which is featured on the totally classy TLC channel (is it just me or is TLC getting very Springerish, not that I mind).  This program has everything from breakfast cheese puffs to sassy slang to roadkill dinners.  And then there's the farting..and the burping...and the nose picking.  The family is an all around hot mess and yet they somehow won me over with their lack of remorse over their ever explosive bodily functions and the clear as day love they have for each other.  I think we can all learn a little bit from Honey Boo Boo and her hillbilly relatives and that's the fact that you don't get to pick your family so love the ones you've got. On the bright side you can pick your nose so sswweeeeettt.

  1. I had a rough night, Amber Girly Bird, and it's all your fault. I had a disturbing dream involving a bus terminal men’s room and that glorified Pooper Scooper you showed us yesterday! Pee Wee Herman was there, too. (Don’t ask!) I’m undergoing electroshock therapy next week in an effort to drive the terrible image from my brain!

As for today's post, you KILL with that cool and casual combo. I haven't seen Honey Boo Boo Child but I sure could go for some roadkill right about now. (Breakfast of champions!) In my hundred years on earth the television landscape has undergone many changes. When The Learning Channel started out it offered strictly educational programs. Networks like Bravo and A&E presented high quality programs that focused on art, literature, classical music and independent films and filmmakers. At one time long long ago MTV actually had MUSIC on it and nothing BUT music. In pursuit of higher ratings the standards were drastically lowered and today there's a freak show on just about every channel. Thank goodness there are still a few quality programs available... such as... (wait for it)... the Republican National Convention.

Have a wonderful Thursday, dear friend Amber!

  7. Umm... I have to admit I am a little disappointed in you for watching that show. But that bowtie necklace is super awesome, so I guess I'll forgive you. ;-)

P.S. Belly pictures coming to my blog soon(ish). Basically as soon as I can get my silly husband to move the pictures from his camera to my computer. I've been bugging him all week, to no avail. :-P

  8. I am devastated that I can't watch Honey Boo Boo Child here! The closest I get is Joel McHale making fun of it on the soup! I did see a clip where they were killing their dinner for that night and Honey was saying the animal was trying to get out of her belly. Amazing.

Lookin' good Amber, the sunglasses really suit your face and you're wearing a buttoned up collar with a cute necklace which is my favourite thing!

  11. I love your little bow tie necklace. my chambray shirt is meant to be worn with a bow tie, but I have a strong aversion to button downs done all the way up to the top. It looks adorable on you though!

As for honey boo boo, the commercials alone make me cringe. I think TLC's programming has taken a turn for the worse.

  12. okay, i've never seen that show, but it sounds appalling in the most fantastic way, and i am not at all surprised that it's on TLC. i can't stand rednecks, but somehow i can't look away, so i think this just might be right up my alley...

  13. I cross the line at Honey Boo Boo (okay is that her real name? I don't get it). It's bad enough that I still like watching Real World.

  14. I bet those adorable scalloped loafers would really win over a redneck or two. But I can't stop watching either.

  15. Haha! I can't watch that show, it's just craziness, like a bad train wreak.

  16. Remember when TLC used to stand for "The Learning Channel?" I'm still trying to figure out what Honey Boo Boo has to teach me.

  17. Did you see the photos of the Honey Boo Boo family feeding the new baby energy drink via a pacifier? The pictures were on Jezebel I think. My immediate response was a light, "Oh you!"

This outfit, yo. I've been trying to find a long sleeve denim shirt that fits me for ages and it's like finding the Holy Grail. Jealousss.

  18. After reading this post, I just had to look up this Honey Boo Boo Child and Oh MY GAWD! I have so many questions and comments about her gogo juice, her mom...but I'll just leave it at What The Fuck?? No.

I want to wear this outfit. Bad.

  19. Okay, so yeah. I watched this train wreck of a show for the first time last night. Dare I say, I may have met my reality show limit? I don't think I can handle it. I am a huge fan of craziness and stuff, but I just don't think I can watch. Plus I just read this morning that Honey Boo Boo's 17 yr old sister had her baby and it has 3 thumbs and then I just got really sad. :(

    ANYWAYS...love your outfit..especially the necklace!!

p.s. I'm giving away a $50 gift card to Shabby Apple if you are interested!!

  22. Oh gosh, I just saw the commercial for that show. As sad as some of these reality shows are, they are strangely addicting (and TLC makes wonderful, strange, addictive shows).
