The End

You may have guessed from the title of this post, but today will mark my last blog entry (please try to control your emotions).  I've been debating whether I should continue on with blogging for some time now, but it was during a recent shoot wherein I was literally freezing my nads off, when I thought to myself "why I am doing this, no one is holding a gun to my head?"  I started this blog to gain some confidence, gain some friends, and to simply have fun, but recently posting has felt more like a chore so I've decided to end it (the blog that is).  I'm still gonna cyber stalk many of your blogs and I may post on here every now and then should I happen to create a bombastic outfit or am having a particularly good hair day, but for the most part I'm outta the game.  I leave you with this glorious photo of my backside and a goodbye mix tape playlist to get you through this trying time. This is the Girly Bird, signing off and saying see ya when I see ya.

PS If you wanna stay in touch, I'll be keeping my pinterest, tumblr and twitter accounts open so follow me there for your Girly Bird fixes or just email me or just come visit.  Whatever floats your boat.

Hugs,

Amber

Thanks

With so much turkey consumed by yours truly last Thursday, I'll be surprised if I don't sprout feathers soon.  Even if I do go all black swan, it will have been worth it just to devour all that glorious Thanksgiving turkey.  Yes, I ate my way into a food coma last Thursday that lasted nearly forty-eight hours resulting in checking zero things off my to do list.  All in all my weekend was less than productive unless you count watching two movies an accomplishment (you really should).  I graciously allowed Kevin to pick Saturday's movie so now I can say I've seen exactly one half of 21 Jump Street (I tapped out after Jonah Hill's character got stabbed with some scissors).  Its wasn't a productive weekend, but all that relaxing has left me feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated that next weekend I think I'll watch three movies.

Supezas

Is there anything better than getting contacted by companies to review their products, especially when that company happens to be creating environmentally conscious clothing? That's exactly what the people beyond Supezas are doing by using the finest organic grown handwoven cotton to fashion their classic designs.  Now I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to the "green" trend I am late to the game. I mean, heck, I still shop at Forever 21 the ultimate fast fashion/anti-ethics chain around, but as I grow older I am trying to evolve into a more earth friendly lady, which is why I jumped at the chance to review this lovely blue blouse from Supezas.  Before donning this top I got the chance to design a few elements of it starting with the fabric (blue brings out my eyes) then collar type (peter pan style for me cause who wouldn't?) then moved on to the sleeves (its cold out so long sleeves won out) and ending with buttons (if hearts are an option, I'm always going for it).  Before finalizing this baby I naturally had to choose my size and since I'm a pretty standard size small I went with one of their "single click best fits" as opposed to custom sizing (did I mention they do custom sizing cause they do).  Since nothing at Supezas is pre-made, the wait time for your piece is a bit lengthier than most online realtors, but as your design comes together you get email updates that show the seamstresses hard at work crafting up your piece and what a pretty piece it is.

Now I have to be honest here cause that's what yall pay me for right (wait I dont get paid for this, dam), so let's get down to business.  The company packaging is lovely, the handwritten letters from the workers are a stellar touch, and my overall experience was top notch.  BUT (I hate when there's a but) I was not as pleased with my blouse as I had hoped, in particular the sleeves were way too full resulting in my husband calling me the blue pirate all day and necessitating the above cardigan.  I do not feel as though this was a sizing issue, but rather a design issue and while some may like the puffy sleeve look, I personally prefer a streamlined classic sleeve on my button downs.  Its a personal taste matter, but had to be noted since well that's the whole point of a review.  Despite the pirate sleeves, I am giving Supezas three out of five stars for their forward thinking, environmentally friendly stance, and clever use of allowing their customers to partake in the design of their clothing.  With a little tweaking, this company has the potential to be a leader in the "green" fashion market so give them a go.  The earth will thank you.

Weak In The Knees: Trespassers William

 Image Via: Here

Coldly beautiful perfectly sums up the sound created by today's featured band, Trespassers William.  With their dreamy emo rock riffs and hauntingly romantic lyrics, one might get a very strong Mazzy Star vibe which would make sense since Trespassers William's first album dropped in the late nineties when listless misery was at its peak.  But unlike Mazzy Star, this band has fully realized their vision making for a more well rounded listening experience. Like Mazzy Star, however, the star of the show is vocalist Anna-Lynne Williams or more importantly her delicately alluring windpipes. Williams' voice makes you feel things (like feelings, so many feelings).  Listen to these tracks when its rainy out and you're bundled in a warm blanket, when you need a little "me" time, when you have a box of kleenex and a plate of warm cookies nearby.  Listen to these tracks when you are ready to make the transition from radio friendly garbage to good music worthy of your precious time.
