Wet Noodle

As much as I am loving the summer sunshine and warm temps, the weather is not being kind to my hair.  I step outside for five minutes and my voluminous locks turn into limp sweat soaked strands.  I'm not complaining, I'm just stating a fact....and complaining...just a little.  Speaking of hair, I've been toying with the idea of changing the color of mine, but I'm still stuck as to what shade works best when you have the skin tone of an anemic ghost.  Suggestions welcome.  Whatever shade I decide upon, I know for certain that I will be enlisting the aid of a knowledgeable hairstylist to do the job instead of dropping ten bucks on a box of dye that will end up destroying all my hand towels and result in a color five shades from the one advertised on the cover.  I guess this is what they call growing up.

  1. Take it from me, Amber Girly Bird, the skin tone of an anemic ghost is the gold standard of beauty in the new millennium. 30 is the new 20 and snow white is the new tan. I think you look fantastic as a brunette but I could also see you as a redhead as long as you promise to return to your "roots" eventually and go back to your current hair color. Why tamper with perfection? Yeah, I mean YOU, Missy! Happy Tuesday, dear friend Amber!

  4. i love the nude look, and especially shorts with blazers.

i hate that my hair turns into a giant fluffy ball at the slightest hint of humidity. it's like summer just wants you to pull your hair back and forget it even exists.

  5. personally, i like the contrast between your light skin and dark hair - but you could always lighten it up if you are feeling a change?? light brown? really, I am no expert, i never die my hair. Also - love your top!

  7. where you going in that cute outfit? i tried to put peekaboo highlights in my hair sunday and it didn't even come close to golden blonde, not even! i am going to have my sister in law try a hand at it. i am not sure what color you should dye it, i love it the way it is!

  8. Maybe a light brown shade? Whenever I do a major color change I always do the first 4-5 dye jobs at the salon to get the color right and nicely saturated and then, after that, I do it myself at home because salon dye jobs are just WAY too pricey for my grad student bank account. On an unrelated note, I love the shorts and heels!

  12. I absolutely love your hair color–in my humble opinion, dark rich brown is the perfect shade for those of us pigmentally challenged!

  13. Love all the pastel colours in your outfit, very delicate and pretty. I think your hair is a lovely colour but if you fancy a change for summer and are going to a professional, get some lovely warm lighter shades put in.

  14. i have the opposite issue with my hair. it turns into a frizzy mess in the summer. what can you do? maybe you could do a dark hombre color? that way, you keep your great brown hair, but add a little something different to it?

  15. Cute outfit, I really like the shorts. I don't think I'll dye my hair again until I go grey. I had platinum blonde streaks put in when I was 15 and they took forever to get rid of.

  16. I love these colors on you so much! I like your dark hair - and like you, I have skin that is very pale. I do think whatever you go with will likely be lovely!

  19. This is a great outfit! Just about perfect for anything you are doing.

Instead of changing your entire hair color, why not try hightlights, or low lights? I have been getting some caramel colored highlights and I love them! They look great on brunettes, too!

  21. Well at least it's nice and warm out! Love the details on your blouse and blazer. I'm pretty pale so I stick to red tone hair colour as it seems to warm up my face if that makes sense?

  22. Wow, well that's one tough decision to make! I think your hair is very very beautiful, and it suits you so well, honestly I can't imagine you having any other color :) And I love your outfit, the pastel shades are simply divine!

  24. I'm so behind in reading the blogs of my favorite ladies so I apologize for the delay. I always get frust-tator-rated (that was lammmme) with my hair in Summer too, my hair gets limp too and is always in my way. I love the pastel shades you are sporting here and this is coming from me and I am almost always in headtobigtoe black (yes, my big toe is black).

  25. I think your dark hair looks really nice on you, but you could go pretty much any other color and it would look nice! I could see red hair being really pretty. I too have the skin color of an anemic ghost, so I understand! I like it though.
Also I love all the soft colors in your outfit here. That blazer is so cute paired with shorts.
