"A trip is what you take when you can’t take anymore of what you’ve been taking."
- Adeline Ainsworth
After many months of yearning, no pining for a vacation the husband and I finally packed our bags and hightailed it to Rhode Island to mooch off his parents who rent a beach house there every year. To say that this vacation was needed is an understatement. Kevin and I have both been running on fumes for awhile now and desperately needed a little time to let our minds turn to mush, void of all things work related. Now I know a returning vacationer can a bit annoying with all their positive vibes and tales of relaxation, but you're just gonna have to get over it cause this trip down r and r memory lane is happening.
Me on a dock contemplating whether I'm gonna have a chocolate chip
cookie or a slice of cake for lunch.
This time last year he was just a organism inside his mama's belly. Now he's a full
blown baby, with something of a drinking problem.
Me reading Eat, Pray, Love. I don't usually gravitate towards chick lit, but I needed
a light summer read plus the author writes a lot about food which makes me happy.
The kids tried to catch a crab, but he got away. Next time crab, next time.
Kevin & I took a trip to the aquarium where we got to see a beluga whale and glow in the dark jelly fish. Holla! Then we got to see bus loads of summer camp kids, prompting our quick departure (kids ruin everything).
This in your face vacation wrap up has now concluded. May your resentment for my awesome vacation be overshadowed by your own mind blowing sabbatical.
Hugs,
Amber

I play it smart, Amber Girly Bird, by keeping my mind in mush mode 24-7-365. My question to you is... when did you manage to elude us and take that trip? I don't remember you ever being gone. It occurred to me that the first and third pictures, the ones showing you lounging on the dock and the lawn chair, would appear as if they were snapped in the 1940s or 50s if you tweaked them sepia tone or black & white. The last picture looks like a screencap from the Van Halen rock video "Hot for Teacher" as Mrs. Girlybird gives her Health & Hygiene class a lesson in egg fertilization. Pic #4: I once caught crabs on vacation... but that's a story for another day and another blog. Have a great one, dear friend Amber!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a lovely and much needed break!

Oh, Amber, my dear favorite friend! How I've missed you!!!
ReplyDeleteLet me start off with your cute bathing suit: ModCloth? Twins. I'm so convinced we're twins separated at birth. I love you. I just had to get that out.
Dude. As far as that internal debate - DUH, have both! Real G's like me do it everyday. I mean, erry'day.
Baby = cute.
Books about food make you smile and look super cute while you're reading them. D'awww :)
I LOL'd at "kids ruin everything" because just two days ago I traveled to Coney Island (for the first time!) with my girlfriend. We had free tickets to visit the aquarium (I LOVE AQUARIUMS!) but we went on the day that every school in town had a field trip day there or something. I mean, I thought they should've been home. Why were they there?? Flunkies? I dunno, but I remember trying to get a closeup look at this awesome, giant walrus when the flock of stinkies came by and it just got chaotic. I ballsily said aloud, "OMG, I can't take this. It smells like piss". I got a couple of crude stares but hey, it was the truth. No pee smell one minute and then big-time pee smell the next. You decide.
All this to say, we need to have our meet up now that I'm not so fucking busy. I mean, not that your schedule should revolve around me but I wanna hang out dammit. I have all of August pretty much. Well, there's one weekend after the 9th or something that we're going to NC to visit my M-I-L but yeah, other than that. I've gotta see you before school starts on 1 Sept. Yuck.
*hugs!*
YAY!! I love Rhode Island!! This is going to be the first year in a while that I won't be going. Usually either my grandma or my parents &/or aunt/uncle rent a house on Scarborough beach, but this year neither of them did!
ReplyDeleteThat poor crabby, good thing he escaped, ha ha
