Lock and Load

What do you wear to shoot guns?  Apparently not the outfit below, but I went with it anyway when  I ventured out to bust a few caps with Kevin and his work buddies.  As an indoor girl, my history with guns is limited and while they tend to freak me out I went with the flow so as to gain the upper hand in the husband/wife "you owe me" department.  Despite my initial lack of enthusiasm, I actually had an alright time and even managed to clumsily hit a few targets.  Even with those few triumphs, I think a career in gun slinging is most likely not in the cards for me.  It's probably for the best. The last thing I need is to shoot an eye out and become even more blind than I already am.

  1. Annie Oakley LIVES! I always knew you are a real straight shooter, Amber Girly Bird! I checked your local newspaper and found this headline: "Drooling geek hospitalized - shot in groin by unknown assailant." That's a smart outfit and nice shot variety. It's jarring to see you wearing a coat when the mercury's still hitting 90 down here. Have a great week, dear friend Amber!

  2. Aww, Shady Del Knight beat me to the Annie Oakley reference!! So instead I'll ask this - do the soles of your shoes match you pants?? It looks like it in the pictures, and if so, that's some serious color coordination!!

  4. I don't know, I think you could pull off the whole annie oakley look... maybe you should give it another try.

The hat was an excellent choice, by the way.

  8. I think you daper and i like what you wore to shoot some guns. I have shot a few before, very fun but it is so loud and yes a bit scary that i didnt take it up as a hobby. I prefer soft and fluffly things like rabbits and such and getting tattooed!
    Miss you!

  10. Totally unexpected confession–I adore shooting a gun, and I'm a surprisingly good shot! But your outfit for shootin' definitely tops anything I've worn!

  11. I have never shot a gun before and probably never will since it's not really a thing in Ireland, so for now I'll have to live vicariously through you! It doesn't matter that you weren't the best at it, what matters it that you looked good doing it! Love the hat by the way!

  12. That's the cutest going shooting outfit I've ever seen! I used to cowboy action shoot, where you dress up like cowboys and only shoot fairly old school guns. It was weird, but it was fun while it lasted.

  13. Well, whatever you did (or shot), you most certainly were the best dressed around :) I'm so in love with this adorable ensemble! You look fabulous!

  14. Guns totally freak me out... which is weird because my dad is an ex postal inspector and was one of the best shots they had in his area. I just feel like too much can go wrong with them.

  21. Hey bro, lemme borrow those oxfords. They're the bees knees!

I'm an indoor gal myself. I haaaate when Mikey comes in from being outside for even five minutes because he smells like, what I simply call "outside". I hope you know what I'm talking about, but every time he tries to hug or kiss me after he walks in the house I'm like, "ewww you smell like outside." I can't describe what it smells like but I know I'm not the only person who calls this scent as such.
Anywho, and heyyy! I use things like this to gain the upper hand as well! In fact, just today I asked Mikey to watch one of my shows with me. A show I know he doesn't too much care for but I was like, "C'mon, I went to practically all your basketball games last season and you know I don't like sports." And voila! He was watching my show with me. Works like a charm.
A couple more things and then I'll go: 1) I love the whole multiple photos of you in this post! Can't have too many cute Amber pics. 2) You rock a fedora like no one's business while still looking like a classy broad.

  22. I, oddly enough, have not shot a gun since I was a child. I'm with you about not being much of a gun person, my boyfriend has a lot of gun loving friends. I don't think there is anything wrong with shooting guns and wearing coral...
