"Falling Into Autumn," "Summer's Out, Fall's In," "Autumn Breeze and Falling Leaves." These are just a few of the post titles I toyed around with before deciding on the most generic and lazy title I could think of. Its not that I'm not excited for Fall, its that I'm already dreading winter. I am dreading those freezing cold mornings when all I want to do is stay warm inside my bed. I'm dreading those fifteen minutes its gonna take me to get the packed on snow off my car. I'm dreading those potential power outages resulting from cracking tree limbs. Nothing about winter has me smiling (minus Christmas and my birthday of course). My husband keeps telling me to "live in the present" and not worry about old man winter, but naturally that's easier said than done. Winter is coming my friends, and all the pumpkin picking and apple baking in the world isn't gonna stop it so let's not delay the inevitable. Just join my pity party now and maybe our combined whining can keep us warm through those snot freezing months ahead.

I'm feelin' ya, Amber Girly Bird, and I would love to be guest of honor at your pity party. It's been nearly 30 years since I lived in the frozen north and I don't miss the windshield scraping, power outages, slips and falls associated with winter. Since 1984 when I moved down here I have seen snow flurries only once. Terrified townies ran through the streets fearing that the earth had somehow broken out of its orbit and was catapulting into deep space. I wish you'd send me some refreshing cool air because our daily highs are still reaching 90. That's a striking outfit along with excellent shot compositions. Have a wonderful day, dear Amber!
ReplyDeleteLove your take on winter...maybe it will be mild like last year. Wishful thinking! Love this outfit and your hat rocks!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hello bird. I have a bit of news for you. In Nashville, winter is nowhere as harsh as you have had in Yankeeville. Nashville gets more snow than we do in Knoxville but the last real snow we had here was in '93. You won't find yourself avoiding the outdoors as much. We do have some dark days but rarely a big snow. And your outfit is wonderful and I'd love to have that sweater.
ReplyDeleteI know it's super weird but I always look forward to winter. And this year's no exception. But I can agree with you on how awesome that polka dot blazer is!

Haha... Maybe it's because you grew up in a warmer climate, while I've spent my whole life here in the northeast, but I don't mind winter. Especially since we got our fireplace fixed! Nothing quite like curling up next to the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this outfit!! And I actually enjoy Winter. The first snow is always awesome (but after that and when it gets brown is annoying) I just don't like it being freezing in the morning and having to turn on my car early, ha ha
ReplyDeleteOoh, yes! And The Last Unicorn ;) It's last minute but we could probably do it here on Saturday if you wanted, ha ha....otherwise not sure when my next free weekend is (oy)

ReplyDeleteLove your bright yellow and polka dots, and the adorable hat!
You and me both lady. I hate snow. Hate hate hate. I don't mind the cold so much but the minute it snows I start wishing for 90 degree days. Bleh.
ReplyDeletethanks for that uplifting post! now i can't wait for winter, either!! ish. I feel ya!! love your outfit. the polka dots and yellow are perfect together!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in black and yellow :)
ReplyDeleteI'm strangely looking forward to the upcoming months but there's nothing worse than a cold bedroom in the mornings!

Yes my dear winter is coming and when is that damn 6th book coming out! Christ!! I want this outfit. So if i move to ct would that mean i can raid your closet? Because that would be part of the deal :) i miss taking outfit pictures. I need my computer to work again!!
ReplyDeleteXo, cb
It never gets like that here in Cali. Not to rub it in your face or anything, just stating facts. There are a few days when it might get like that, but they don't happen on a regular basis and then they are considered fun.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm totally digging this outfit! It's beyond cute!
Marvellous, love the whole outfit girl, you look gorgeous xx

Love this look, and the world's best blog post title. Not going to lie, last night I was dreaming about finally getting to wear a coat.
ReplyDeleteUgh! I am so with you on this one, the most annoying thing is the uncertainty of it, like last year it only snowed once and never got unbearably cold but the winter before that it was absolutely freezing and snowed so much. We just have to get through it by wearing nice coats, hats, scarves and gloves!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so cute!!! you look like a female version of johnny depp in benny and joon!

OMG! This outfit is soooo so adorable!! I read your comment on my last post about the sequin jacket and you're so welcome :)
ReplyDeleteI know, the weather really is getting colder and I'm so stoked for winter! You will definitely see my Halloween Dance pictures soon! I promise! :)

ReplyDeleteI'm with you lady. cb better make some room!
Deletemissed you on here! It's inevitable yes? hopefully this winter won't be too bad. On a side note you look awesome any season!
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous as ever! Love this outfit!! And random fall pun. Too punny! haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of glad we don't get super long or harsh winters in Georgia, but sometimes they're pretty much skipped all together, so that sucks too. Everyone wants what they don't have!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit so much. Your polka dot blazer is wonderful and so is your blouse. And that hat is the perfect accessory for this outfit. So so cute!
Ha. Love your puns! We don't have the fall weather here, so I'm actually craving it!
ReplyDeleteEverything stated in this post = Agreed! I know you and I are on the same pessimistic page regarding our winter blues. One more thing we can toast to when we finally meet up. Which brings me to my Thanksgiving break: Nov 21 - 25. Clearly you and I will likely have our own family related plans for Turkey day but maybe we can meet up one of the other days before or after, or that weekend. It's something we can start looking into now if you're up to it! I would have loved to have done it this past weekend but we had friends in (again) from Vegas. This weekend would have been ideal as it was a four day weekend too. Anywho, I hope we can meet up before the year ends! But I definitely wanna come up and visit you for your bday, too! How cool would that be?! I just have this amazing vision in my head of glasses clinking and country music (amongst our other shared genres) blasting loud in the background. Talks of Texas and Bluebonnets...ah, seems magical.
ReplyDeleteP.s. Your black and yellow combo is the cutest thing!
Love the yellow/black! And your necklace is cute too!!! However, I have to disagree w/ you about winter :) I love cold & rain & everything about winter :)

I know what you mean, Winter freakin sucks. The only thing I like about winter is soup and I could (and do) honestly eat soup year around so... oh yeah and Christmas but only because I love the Christmas lights. I've always wanted to live somewhere more North but than I remember how much more snow I'd experience and I park my ass in my seat, I can only take so much snow, yes it is pretty but it is a total pain in the donkey. I always get really pissed when I look outside and see snow because all I can think is how much more effort it is going to take to go anywhere or do anything. But anywho, you look cute as always, I adore pairing this shade of yellow with black and white.

I must say I agree with you on winter, something about it always makes me sad and longing for summer! I love your bowler hat and the color of your shirt- so pretty!
